REPENT AND RELIVE
People are bon as innocent but as they grow up and seek both
the desirable and undesirable pleasures of this world, they begin to commit
sins, the wages of which, according to a biblical phrase, is death.
However, there is in the Bible a story of the Prodigal Son
which shows God will forgive any sinner who repents.
The Persian poet Jalaluddin Rumi (1207-1273) repeats this message of God’s forgiveness in the following
words:
Come, come, whoever you
are,
Wanderer, fire
worshipper, lover of leaving.
This is not a caravan of
despair
It does not matter that you
have broken your vow
A thousand times, still
come.
And yet again come.
As regards repentance, God
believes in the theory of better late
than never. His mercy is always there. He waits for the return of The Prodigal
Son tirelessly.
The American poet Henry
Wadsworth Longfellow (1807-82) says: Man-like it is to fall into sin; fiend-like
it is, to dwell therein; Christ-like it is, for sin to grieve; God-like it is, all
sin to leave.
The
Roman poet Decimus Junius Juvenalis, famous in English as Juvenal (Born 55-60? CE,
died probably in or after 127) believed:
“Bad men hate sin through fear of
punishment; good men hate sin through their own love of virtue.”
To
conclude, here are some of the popularly attributes of God.
i)). Pardon , not wrath, is God’s
best attribute.
ii). To err is human; to forgive; divine.
III). God is a spirit, infinite,
eternal, and unchangeable in his being, wisdom, power, holiness, justice,
goodness, and truth.
iv). God is great, and therefore He
will be sought: He is good , and therefore He will be found.
(v). In all His dispensations God is
at work for our good. ---In prosperity He tries our gratitude; in mediocrity,
our contentment; in misfortune, our submission; in darkness, our faith; under
temptation, our steadfastness, and at all times, our obedience and trust in Him.
