SAY NO TO ANXIETY
‘Anxiety’ is defined both as a worry and a desire. As worry
it is undesirable. It makes you uneasy, fearful, idle, pessimistic, unhealthy, sleepless,
lonely and self-absorbed. So, say ‘no’ to it.
Those who are morally sound and always do what is right and
trust in God do not fall a prey to anxiety.
There is no denying the fact that intolerable socio-political
situations like poverty, unemployment, violence,
mutual hatred, religious antagonism, and unfulfilment of even basic needs of
life causes anxiety to a number of
people. But remember that personal
anxiety is no remedy for these socio=political problems.
According to the American theologian Tryon Edwards (1809-94 )“Anxiety
is the rust of life, destroying its brightness and weakening its power. A childlike
and abiding trust in Providence is its best preventive and remedy.
As a Scottish divine Hugh Blair (1718-1800 ) ays anxiety is
the poison of human life; the parent of many sins and of more miseries. In a
world where we may be disappointed, and be blessed in disappointment, why this
restless stir and commotion of mind? Can it alter the cause, or unravel the
mystery of human events?
Finally, this simple truth that nothing can bring peace to you
except yourself .
