SOME THOUGHTS ON DEEDS
Deeds are actions. They can be good or
bad, necessary or unnecessary, virtuous or vicious, noble or ignoble, physical
or mental, bodily or spiritual.
All
deeds have their specific fruits. Righteous deeds bring rewards; immoral or illegal
fetch punishments. The former are good for health, peace of mind, elevation of
soul, and overall reputation; contrarily bad deeds upset l good health, tranquil mind, pure soul, and
stainless social reputation.
While
evil deeds prick your conscience, noble ones enhance tranquility. Noble deeds
have positive results; ignoble ones negative
outcomes. .
Such
deeds as displease or harm or enfeeble or defame others are undesirable. Admirable
deeds are replete with charity, compassion, co-operation, kindness,
encouragement, helpfulness and insipiration.
Religions
recommend good actions without expectation of rewards. In spite of this, one’s
actions are expected to be morally and spiritually sound.
One
should not criticise or defame others for any negative action. The should be
guided in abandoning their wrong-doings in a gentle, uncritical manner.
Remember, some saints had a criminal past, and some sinners have a saintly future. Don’t be proud of your nobleness,
and inimical about others’ ignoble deeds.
They can repent, reform themselves, and attract divine forgiveness. There
is another famous and inspirational proverb
which says : It is never too late to mend. Some great poets have said that the
doors of God for those who are willing to atone and seek forgiveness are never
closed.
Somebody
has rightly said: our deeds follow us, and what we have been makes us what we
are.
Finally,
look at the following famous quotes.
*Good actions ennoble us, and we are the
sons of our own deeds.
*Good deeds ring clear through heaven
like a bell.
*A noble deed is a step toward God.
*A life spent worthily should be
measured by deeds, not years.
*Our deeds determine us, as much as
we determine our deeds.
