THE WIND
Who has seen the wind?
Neither I nor you.
But when the leaves hang trembling,
The wind is passing through.
Who has seen the wind?
Neither you nor I.
But when the trees bow down their
heads,
The wind is passing by.
This
reflective poem is about the wind which is invisible but active . It was written
for children by the English romantic and devotional poet Christina Rossetti
(1830-1894).
The poem tells us that
even invisible things exist and perform their allotted actions. The wind is invisible but shows its existence
when it passes through the leaves and makes them tremble by its touch.
Some other examples of invisible
things are smell, fragrance, coolness, heat, etc. We know them by their action –
not by their visibility.
