BENEFITS OF PATIENCE
Patience is defined as the ability to stay calm and accept a
delay or something annoying without complaining. It is also the ability to spend a lot of time
doing something difficult that needs a lot of attention and effort.
The characteristics of patience are: calmness, tolerance,
endurance, resignation, self-restraint, tranquility, persistence, endurance,
diligence, singleness of purpose, etc.
The benefits of patience are too many. If you have patience, you can have what you
will. Patience is not delay but the
secret of success. It is also the art of hoping. One may ask if God can afford
to wait; why cannot humans.
The English essayist and poet Joseph Addison (1672-1719) says
: Our real blessings often appear in the shape of pains, losses and
disappointments; but let us have patience, and we soon shall see them in their
proper figures.
The American author Gail Hamilton (1830-96) says that life
has such hard conditions that every dear and precious gift, every rare virtue,
every genial endowment, love, hope, joy, wit, sprightliness, benevolence, must
sometimes be put into the crucible to distil the one elixir ---patience.
Finally, remember the words of the English Bishop George Horne
(1730-92) : Patience strengthens the spirit, sweetens the temper, stifles
anger, extinguishes envy, subdues pride, bridles the tongue, restrains the
hand, and tramples upon temptations.
