EAT WHAT YOU SHOULD
Eating is consuming , swallowing, chewing, munching food. It
is a necessary activity for the body and is performed four or five times a day.
No body can survive without eating and digesting food. Food is a source of energy which we need to
perform our physical and mental actions.
The benevolent God has made available innumerable kinds of
food. One has to choose from amongst them according to one’s liking but not
always. You have to select foods
according to your age and state of health. If your liver, kidney, heart, lungs
and other parts of the body are not functioning normally, you have to eat what
is medically advised. Moreover, you have to limit the amount of whatever you
eat. An important saying is : eat to live, not live to eat. Excessive eating spoils health. It is a
vicious gluttony which reduces one’s life span.
There
is another important saying: Over-eating and over-sleeping is the habit of
animals.
Simple diet is said to be best, for many dishes bring many
diseases, and rich sauces are worse than even heaping several meats piling upon
each other. The English poet-dramatist William Shakespeare (1564-1616) said :
There are as sick that surfeit with too much, as they that starve with nothing.
Some famous eating quotes are: “Tell me what you eat, and I
will tell you who you are. “ “There is no sincerer love than the love of food.” “The only thing I like better than talking
about food is eating.”
Finally, when you are sick or even healthy, eat what you
should, not what you like because: What is food for one man may be bitter
poison to others.
