SPEAKING ABOUT CHARITY

Charity is a kind of kindness and sympathy towards other people. It is a quality of the heart and expresses itself in the form of financial assistance, donation, contribution, endowment, philanthropy, goodwill, compassion, generosity, benevolence, good counsel, physical assistance, etc.

It is a sort of sharing.  In this sense God is most charitable. He has shared everything of His store with all His offspring.

According to the Russian mystic Madam Swetchine (1782-1857) : We are rich only through what we give; and poor only through what we refuse and keep.  

The Holy Prophet Muhammad  considers every good act as charity. Your smiling in your brother’s face is charity; an exhortation of your fellow-man to virtuous deeds, is equal to alms-giving; your putting a wanderer on the right road, is charity; your assisting the blind, is charity; your removing stones, and thorns, and other obstructions from the road is charity; your giving water to the thirsty, is charity. A man’s true wealth hereafter, is the good he does in this world to his fellow-men. When he dies, people will say, “What property he has left behind him?” But the angels will ask, “What good deeds has he sent before him.”     

English writer Henry Fielding (1707-1854) said : A rich man without charity is a rogue; and perhaps it would be no difficult matter to prove that he is also a fool.

Finally, here is an anonymous quote which you ought to remember throughout your life: The place of charity, like that of God, is everywhere.
