IT IS A DIVIDED WORLD
The word ‘world’ is defined as the earth, with all its
countries, peoples and natural features. It also means a particular part of the
earth, a particular group of countries or people; a particular period of
history and the people of that period such as the Arab world; the European
world, the English speaking world; etc.
God is the creator of the world and everything that it
contains. It is one world with people of different religions, forms of
government, beliefs, aims and objectives. The world has 193 recognized countries
. All of them are members of the United
Nations, an international organization founded in 1945.
By area there are ten largest countries in the world . Of these India, China and United States are
most populated. In all, nine countries possess nuclear weapons : the United States,
Russia, France, China, the United Kingdom, Pakistan, India, Israel and North Korea.
Unfortunately, whereas God created one earth with all His creation in it, man has divided it into
innumerable parts with different religions, faiths, creeds, forms of
government, isms, types of weapons, educational and social systems, borders,
frontiers, competitions, confrontations, hatred, jealousy, envy, greed and many
more divisive approaches. Consequently, the unity of the world and the peace therein remain a dream, do not become a reality.
Finally, what the English poet and statesman George Villiers
Buckingham (1628-87) said : The world is made up, for the most part, of fools
or knaves, both irreconcilable foes to truth: the first being slaves to a blind
credulity, which we may properly call bigotry: the last two jealous of that
power they have usurped over the folly and ignorance of the others, which the
establishment of the empire of reason would destroy.
