PREVENTION
IS BETTER THAN CURE
Wisdom is a combination of do’s and
don’ts. If you ignore don’ts, you fall into a trap. Good health depends on the
following do’s.
Rise early. Sleep early. Go for a
morning walk when the air is fresh and least polluted. Take a bath. Clean your
body thoroughly. Dress yourself according to the current weather conditions.
Eat a balanced diet. Avoid gluttony. Keep yourself active. Be engaged in
personally and socially useful work. Sleep adequately. Remain hydrated. Manage
your stress wisely. Medicines should not become your regular requirement. Walking
is the best remedy in most of the diseases like over-weight, diabetes and high cholesterol.
Among don’ts smoking is at the top of
the list. Alcohol spoils your liver, kidney and lungs. This is the worst drink.
A proverb says: Water is the best drink for a gentleman. Over-eating,
over-sleeping, and over-talking are bad.
Know your dangers before time. The dictum :
Think before you speak, and look before you leap is eternally valid.
Don’t lose temperament. It may lead you
to dangerous consequences. Patience is
better than anger. Innocence should be preferred to repentance.
Don’t walk at lonely places without
some protective measures. Gardens are safer than forests.
Listen to the precautions suggested by
your well-wishers including the elders.
Always trust in God and do what is right.
Virtues are preservers of innocence. Vices make you a punishable sinner.
Prayer is a letter of gratitude to God.
Use it daily to get a tranquilizing response.
It is better not to commit a sin than
to use penance as a remedy.
Here are some famous quotes on
prevention is better than cure. (i). Laws act after crimes have been committed;
prevention goes before them both. (ii). Who would not give a trifle to prevent
what he would give a thousand worlds to cure? (iii) Preventives of evil are far better than remedies;
cheaper and easier of application, and surer in result. (iv). Treatment without
prevention is simply unsustainable. (v). An ounce of prevention is worth a
pound of cure.
Finally, the proverb “Prevention is
better than cure” means it is wiser and more efficient to take proactive steps
to avoid a problem before it occurs, rather than waiting for the problem to
happen and then dealing with the consequences.”
