SOME GREAT IDEAS
(FROM MY MEMORY)
1.Ambition is so powerful a passion
in the human breast, that however high we reach we are never satisfied.
2. Care admitted
as a guest, quickly turns to be master.
3. The great
hope is in individual character.
4. Cowards
falter, but danger is often overcome by those who nobly dare.
5. The
greatest difficulties lie where we are not looking for them.
6. Do thy
duty; that is best; leave unto the Lord the rest.
7. One
should eat to live, not live to eat.
8. We can do
more good by being good, than in any other way.
9.Fanaticism
is the false fire of an over-heated mind.
10. Fortune
knocks at every man’s door once in life.
11. He who
is a slave to his belly seldom worships God.
12. Good
humour is the health of the soul; sadness is its poison.
13. Sorrow’s
best antidote is employment.
14. Help
thyself, and God will help thee.
15. If a man
empties his purse into his head, no one can take it from him.
16. Judgement
is forced upon us by experience.
17. The first step to knowledge, is to know that we
are ignorant.
18. Laws can
discover sin, but not remove it.
19. We never
live, but we ever hope to live.
