TAKING
ABOUT MAN
There are innumerable thoughts and
quotes about man. In fact, he is a mysterious creation of God. What he is
supposed to do in this equally incomprehensible world is a riddle. Why is he
mortal? Was he in heaven and was thrown out due to some disobedience? Is he a
sinner in the eyes of God? Will he be punished or rewarded according to his
good or bad deeds? All these facts and questions will remain a mystery. Leave
aside religions, even sciences will not be able to know the whole truth.
Here are some interesting thoughts
about man.
·
Indisputably
a great, good, handsome man is the first of created things.—English novelist Charlotte
Bronte (1816-55).
·
Half
dust, half deity, alike unfit to sink or soar.---English poet Lord Byron
(188-1824).
·
Limited
in his nature, infinite in his desires.—French poet Alphonse de Lamartine (1790-1869).
·
A
reasoning rather than a reasonable man. --– American Statesman Alexander Hamilton (1757-1804).
·
There
are but three classes of man, the retrograde, the stationary, and the
progressive,----Swiss theologian John Caspar Lavater (1741-1801).
·
There
are four types of good men who worship me. The sorrowing, the truth-seeker, the
seeker of bliss, and the wise man. The wise man, being steadfast, is the best
among these. His mind is balanced. ----Lord Krishna, a major Hindu deity (Born
228 BCE). Source: The Bhagavad Gita.
·
Finally,
The British poet-playwright William Shakespeare (1564-1616) in his play Hamlet,
Act 4, Sc.4:
What a piece of work is a man! How noble in reason! How infinite
in faculty! In form and moving how express and admirable! In action how like an
angel! In apprehension how like a god! the
beauty of the world! The paragon of animals!
